Our love for trees is already evident in our product names. All products are named after tree species, which not only serves as a means of identification, but also reflects our deep appreciation for the main raw material. Each product name thus tells a story of natural beauty and sustainability. This naming not only connects us to the sources of our materials, but also underlines our respect for nature, which makes our unique and high-quality products possible.
Our heart - the kraft paper
Our backpacks , shopper bags and travel bags are made from sustainable kraft paper. Unlike leather or synthetic fibers, kraft paper is made from a renewable raw material, wood. Long-fibered conifers such as spruce and pine in particular offer high strength and are therefore ideal. A special finishing process makes the kraft paper particularly hard-wearing, robust and water-repellent.

FSC - Forest Stewardship Council
Our kraft paper is made in Germany from trees that come from FSC® certified cultivation. FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council® and certifies sustainable forestry. The wood for our kraft paper therefore comes from responsibly managed forests. You can find more information about the international certification system here .

Our connection to nature and our forests is reflected not only in the choice of sustainable materials for our products, but also in our collaboration with the non-profit organization onetreeplanted.org , which is involved in reforestation of forests around the world. onetreeplanted.org wants to make it easy for everyone to help the environment by planting trees, restoring forests, creating habitats for biodiversity and making a positive impact on the world.

For every Paper & Sons backpack or shopper bag you order from us, we plant a tree together with onetreeplanted.org! In practice, this works like this: At the end of each month, we donate 1 US$ for every backpack or shopper bag sold to the non-profit organization (NGO) onetreeplanted.org .
The trees are planted by volunteers from the organization in different places around the world. Usually always where they are most urgently needed and have previously been destroyed by forest fires or human intervention, for example. In 2023, a total of 51.9 million trees were planted in 72 countries.
